Event insurance coverages
Tell us about your event and we'll help determine the right protection.
Direct Event Insurance is a guided event protection platform, not a checkbox catalog. There are four primary coverage categories. Special Event Liability is the foundational policy that most supporting protections attach to. Our modern systems evaluate your event and recommend the right combination - you don't need to know which form solves which exposure.
Four primary coverages
Special Event Liability
The foundational event policy. Required by most venues. All supporting protections attach here.
General Liability for one-off events: bodily injury, third-party property damage, and legal defense at $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate with $0 deductible. Most supporting coverages - alcohol, equipment, vehicles, accident medical, venue endorsements - attach to this policy.

Event Cancellation
Reimburses non-refundable deposits and lost revenue when a covered reason cancels or postpones the event.
Designed for events with real money at risk: festivals, conferences, conventions, and weddings with significant deposits. Covered reasons typically include weather, venue cancellation, key person non-appearance, government action, and accidents.

Weather Insurance
Parametric protection that pays out on a measurable trigger - no adjuster, no negotiation.
For outdoor events where rainfall, heat, snow, or wind could meaningfully hurt attendance, revenue, or the experience. Triggers are written against a specific measurement at the nearest weather station.

Supporting coverages under Special Event Liability
These are not standalone products. They attach to a Special Event Liability policy and are quoted as part of the same application. You don't have to choose them yourself - the quote flow recommends what your event needs based on your answers.
Alcohol Protection
Alcohol changes the liability picture even when it's free. We attach the right form based on how alcohol is served.
Host Liquor
Typically included at no charge when drinks are complimentary and the insured does not profit from alcohol sales.
Liquor Liability
Applies when alcohol is sold or professionally served. Requires additional premium, a valid liquor license, and attaches to the Special Event Liability policy.
Venue Requirement Endorsements
Endorsements most venue contracts ask for. Added to the Special Event Liability policy at no additional charge in most cases.
Additional Insured
Names the venue, sponsor, landlord, or other required party on the policy.
Waiver of Subrogation
Prevents the insurer from pursuing recovery against a venue or partner you've agreed to hold harmless.
Primary & Non-Contributory
Confirms your policy responds first and does not seek contribution from the venue's or partner's policy.
Equipment Protection
For rented production, film, staging, lighting, sound, and event equipment in your care, custody, or control.
Rented Equipment Coverage(Inland Marine)
Protects rented equipment tied to the insured event while it is in your care, custody, or control. Commonly required by rental houses and production vendors.
Transportation Protection
For rented, borrowed, or leased vehicles used for event operations or equipment transport.
Production Vehicle Coverage(Non-Owned & Hired Auto)
Covers certain event-related vehicle exposure tied to the insured event. Not coverage for attendee vehicles or passenger transportation.
Participant & Volunteer Protection
Reimburses medical expenses regardless of fault for people working or competing at the event.
Participant Accident Medical
For participants in races, tournaments, performances, or other competitive or athletic activity at the event.
Volunteer Accident Medical
For volunteers injured while supporting the insured event.
Separate standalone program - formerly Subscribed Vendor Program
Vendor Liability Program
The Vendor Liability Program helps venues, organizers, and event operators manage vendor insurance requirements across participating vendors. It is a separate program, not a coverage and not an endorsement under Special Event Liability. It can be set up independently from the organizer's own Special Event Liability policy - your event's SEL does not have to be placed through Direct Event Insurance for vendors to enroll.
Built for trade shows, expos, conventions, bridal shows, comic cons, gift shows, vendor fairs, and conferences. Send one link to your vendors. Each enrolls in their own coverage in about 60 seconds and certificates route back to you with your venue pre-named as additional insured. Coverage starts as low as around $100 per vendor, depending on the number of vendors participating, event location, event type, and underwriting details. Standard limits are $1M per occurrence with a $2M shared group aggregate. Not designed for food, beverage, alcohol service, on-site cooking, open flames, or motorized equipment.
Coverage in as fast as 5 minutes. Quote saves automatically.
