Direct Event Insurance vs other event insurance brokers
The category as a whole has not moved much in a decade. Here is where we are different.
Vendor coverage product
DEI: Vendor Liability Program. One organizer link covers every vendor on their own A rated policy.
Others: None. Each vendor must source their own Certificate of Insurance (COI) separately, usually in the final week.
Standard limits
DEI: $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate, industry standard. $10M excess available.
Others: $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate. Excess often requires a separate broker.
Vendor Liability Program limits
DEI: Each enrolled vendor gets their own $1,000,000 per occurrence coverage with a shared $2,000,000 group aggregate. Coverage starts as low as around $100 per vendor, depending on the number of vendors participating, event location, event type, and underwriting details.
Others: No volume program. Vendors source their own COIs at $300+ each.
Excess capacity
DEI: Up to $10,000,000 excess available for major festivals and conferences.
Others: Often capped at $2M without a separate broker placement.
Quote and bind speed
DEI: Most quotes priced and bound in under 5 minutes online.
Others: Form-and-wait or call-center routing measured in hours or days.
Venue acceptance
DEI: 99.5% acceptance with a full premium refund if a venue rejects the COI.
Others: No money-back guarantee.
Founder access
DEI: Direct line to David Carbrey at (214) 356-6585 for any complex event.
Others: Routed to whichever rep picks up.
Operating model
DEI: Human + AI since 2026. Licensed humans paired with AI assistants on quoting, COIs, vendor onboarding.
Others: Manual call centers or fully automated forms with no human in the loop.
From David
25+ years of insurance experience with deep live-event and entertainment risk experience, including years on the other side of the load-in door as a working musician. I have been the organizer asking the broker why a Certificate of Insurance is not in my inbox at eleven the night before doors.
We built Direct Event Insurance to make that call disappear. Higher limits because that is what venues actually want. Zero deductibles on every General Liability policy because anybody who has filed a claim knows why. The Vendor Liability Program because every multi-vendor event I have ever been part of had the same paperwork scramble in the final week.
If you have an event coming up and you want to talk it through, holler. Five minutes on the phone tells you if we are the right fit.
